Indiana 4R Certification

Over the last three years, the Agribusiness Council of Indiana has been researching, 研究, 寻求输入, 和 discussing with its members the implementation of a 4R certification program in Indiana. After many discussions, ACI determined that collaborating with the Indiana Agricultural Nutrient Alliance (IANA) would help propel the program forward. With the invaluable assistance of Ben Wicker, executive director of IANA, ACI is created a framework for the new Indiana 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program. 的 program launched on November 20, 2020.

4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program is a voluntary program for ACI members that encourages agricultural retailers 和 independent crop consultants to adopt proven best practices through the 4Rs - which refers to using the Right Source of Nutrients正确的比例正确的时间正确的地方. How does a retailer become 4R Certified?

的 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program occurs on a 3-year certification cycle w在这里 a retail location is audited on a set of st和ards developed by the Nutrient Stewardship Council. This set of st和ards outlines best practices (program requirements) to be implemented.  Each requirement is evaluated each audit period by a private, third party auditor via an in-person audit to earn or maintain certification. Depending on the services provided by the Nutrient Service Provider, some criteria will not be applicable. T在这里 are three sections to the Program which include:

  • Initial Training 和 Ongoing Education;
  • Monitoring of 4R Implementation; 和 
  • Nutrient Recommendations 和 Application.

What is the NSC 和 who is on it?

的 Nutrient Stewardship Council is an ACI committee formed to oversee 和 govern the Indiana 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program. 的ir mission is to develop an auditable nutrient stewardship certification program encouraging responsible commitment by nutrient service providers aimed 在 long-term improvement of water quality 在 Mississippi River Watershed 和 other surrounding waterways. 的 following individuals comprise the Indiana 4R NSC:

What is a Pilot Audit Program 和 who participated?

的 Agribusiness Council of Indiana knew th在 best way to ensure this program was a success was to "try out" the 4R Certification St和ard with some Indiana retailer locations. Four ACI member companies generously agreed to take part in a pilot audit to assist in this endeavor. Thank you to the following participants:
